Dog electrocuted near Queen & Parliament

Pat Beverly spent Saturday at the doctor’s office, getting medical treatment for a bite she received Friday.

But her real devastation stems from the loss of her beloved dog, a retriever named Tiny.

Tiny died after stepping on part of the sidewalk at Queen and Parliament Streets that had been electrified because of a problem with the TTC's overhead wires.

He bit Pat while seizing up.

A Toronto police officer was also shocked when she touched the dog’s collar. A second dog was also shocked, but managed to avoid serious injury.

TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said he believed the problem was an isolated incident due to two problems: the pole was installed improperly and the insulation on the span wire failed.

TTC and Toronto Hydro were on the scene late Friday night and are still investigating the incident.
