A body found in a Caledon house fire has been ruled a homicide, the Ontario Provincial Police revealed Friday.

The remains of Van Sanh Tieu, 53, of Dundalk, were found inside the home, which was destroyed in the blaze.

Provincial Constable Jonathan Becket told CityNews that while the OPP will not release the official cause of death, he would confirm that it “was not related to the fire.”

Evidence found at the scene suggests the house was being used as a marijuana grow-op, the OPP allege.

The fire took place February 17, 2011 on Mississauga Road, south of Beech Grove Side Road.

Anyone with information about this incident is being urged to contact the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit at (519) 927-3041 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
