A Paris Ontario teen suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a Via Rail train on Friday.
The 15-year-old male was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, witnesses told the Brantford Expositor.
He was rushed to a Brantford hospital before being transferred to Hamilton.
The teen was walking with three other friends when he was hit.
No other injuries were reported, but two Via engineers had to be relieved after being shaken up by the incident.
“Via Train number 73 was en route from Toronto to Windsor and was involved in an accident with a trespasser at around 1:45pm," Via spokesperson Catherine Kaloutsky told CityNews.ca.
“The information we have is that emergency personnel were on the scene almost immediately and we understand that one individual was airlifted to hospital."
The incident is still under investigation.
The name of the injured teen hasn't been released.
