Thanks to tips from the public, police have charged a Toronto man with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old at a Scarborough bar last week.

Detectives arrested Nicholas Walker, 37, on Thursday, a week after getting a warrant for his arrest.

They believe Walker, also known as “Nipsy,” shot Clifenton Ford more than once inside G’s Chill and Grill Sports Bar on Eglinton Avenue East, near Midland Avenue. The janitor and father of 10 was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank those many patrons who have come forward, as well as those who have contacted Crime Stoppers – they have helped us greatly,” said Insp. Edward Boyd.

“There are still some patrons who have not come forward. I would ask them to please contact us as soon as possible.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 416-808-7400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), go online to www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637), or leave a tip on Facebook.
