Three years ago Judy Sgro resigned as Paul Martin's Immigration Minister after allegations she fast-tracked permits to a Romanian stripper who worked on her campaign.   But now it's Sgro's name that may be stripped from a city street after at least two councillors tabled a motion to have "Judy Sgro Avenue" renamed.

Eglinton-Lawrence Coun. Howard Moscoe is one of the outspoken opponents   "The city has a policy against naming streets after living politicians," he argued.   "But if you're going to name a street after a living politician, you might as well put the 'reelect' in front of it and do some good for her," he facetiously notes.

At the other side of the heated debate is York West Counc. Giorgio Mammoliti.   "I think he (Moscoe) literally wakes up in the morning and decides on who he wants to piss off that day," he said. "She is a great leader," he adds, defending Sgro.   "This community has recognized it. They voted in favour of naming the street after her."

The hot air will continue to circulate when council debates the street name at a special meeting on Wednesday.
