Man Who Bit Off Girlfriend's Nose Could Be Declared Dangerous Offender

A man who bit off his girlfriend's nose and spit it out during a horrifying fit of jealous rage could be declared a dangerous offender.  Angel Jones was found guilty of aggravated assault after the outrageous attack in 2002, but now prosecutors want to assure he can be locked up indefinitely.

On Wednesday, the court heard the frantic 911 call his girlfriend made after the brutal assault.

"He's going to kill me. He says he's going to hurt me," she sobbed.

On Wednesday she read an impact statement, saying, "No one can know what it's like to not recognize yourself. It's like I don't have a face."

Jones, who is representing himself, responded by asking her, "Are you angry?"

She replied: "Yes. Words cannot describe how I feel."

The victim, who was 26 years old at the time, can't be identified.

Police found her nose on the floor, but doctors were unable to reattach it.  She has had several reconstructive surgeries and still needs many more.

At his initial trial, the jury quickly rejected Jones' preposterous claim his girlfriend's nose 'fell off' after her body became brittle because she was taking weight loss medicine at the time.

Jones has since been charged with assault on at least 7 other occasions. The hearing continues Thursday when the court will hear from a psychologist.
