Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has disclosed the identity of a man who died early Sunday during an incident with police at Pearson airport.

The agency, which is investigating the incident, said Peel Regional police “interacted” with Keith Prescod, 53, of Toronto on Sunday at 2:15 a.m. near the airport on the ramp to Terminal 3.

“Mr. Prescod was restrained and went into medical distress,” the SIU said in a release Monday. “He was taken to the William Osler Health Centre, Etobicoke General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

An autopsy was conducted Monday in Toronto, and the results of the exam will be made available to SIU investigators sometime in the future, the agency said.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
