Drivers should expect delays all day Tuesday on Lake Shore Boulevard in downtown as a stretch of the major road has been closed to film a Hollywood movie.
The remake of the 1990 film
Total Recall has shut down a stretch a stretch of Lake Shore, between Parliament and Jarvis streets.
A sign was posted in the area, warning motorists to expect “significant delays.” Drivers were forced to use the Esplanade, Queens Quay and Lower Jarvis as alternates, all of which quickly became jam-packed, leaving many annoyed.
“It’s surprising,” said Rob. "I’m not sure what the point is, or why they couldn’t do it another time.”
“It’s not a good look to be honest with you. People got to get to work,” said Matt.
The closure will last until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
While Toronto’s streets are regularly home to movie productions, this remake is the largest in the city’s history. The film has a reported $200-million budget, surpassing 2008’s
The Incredible Hulk at $150 million.
Total Recall stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Bryan Cranston. It’s slated for release in theatres on Aug. 3, 2012.
The original
Total Recall won an Oscar for best visual effects and earned more than $260 million at the box office.
