A 55-year-old man was killed and a woman injured in a shooting at a west end apartment complex overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Sidney Belsey Crescent just before midnight Sunday. That’s in the Jane Street and Weston Road area.

They found the man, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police haven't identified him, but friends and family say he is Mohamed Wasughe.

Police also found a female victim, who had been pistol whipped on the head. She is expected to be okay.

Police haven’t released a suspect description but are hoping surveillance video will shed some light on the case.

"We are currently going through the security footage for this building.  It's going to take a while to get through it...It will be releasing some images of suspects I'm looking for," said Det. Sgt. Peter Trimble.

Anyone with information is asked to call The Toronto Police Homicide Squad at (416) 808-7474.
