Heavy Rains Cause Flooding In Parts Of GTA

It came from out of nowhere, surprising motorists and pedestrians caught without an umbrella. A heavy downpour hit the GTA at about 7am Thursday, leaving roads a slick, slippery mess.

There was flooding in parts of the city, and some roads including Eastern Ave. and Lake Shore by Ontario Place were submerged in as much as a foot of water in spots. Drivers were urged to be extra cautious behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, a high water warning was issued by Toronto and Region Conservation and it's expected to remain in effect through Saturday as more wet weather is expected in the area. Rivers and streams should be considered dangerous and parents are advised to keep their kids away from the waterways for their own protection. Pets are also at risk.

GTA residents might want to consider checking their basements for flooding as well, given the intensity of the rainfall.
