GO Transit will boost services in early September

GO Transit is increasing services throughout its bus and train system as the school year begins.

The agency released several service enhancements Tuesday after assessing ridership numbers. Some bus routes are also being reinstated for students for the school year.

The changes start Sept. 3 and affect five routes, including Lakeshore East; the Highway 407 West, University of Guelph bus route; the Highway 407 East bus route; Georgetown bus service and the Barrie corridor.

Some highlights include:

-Two new trains on the Lakeshore East line,
-One new morning and one new afternoon train trip on weekdays on the Barrie line,
-Two new bus trips on the Newmarket Highway 400 GO bus,
- New express trips between Trent University and Oshawa GO station on Fridays and Sundays and,
-Two new Friday trips for the University of Guelph GO bus.
