An Air Canada pilot was forced to make an emergency landing at Pearson Airport on Tuesday morning after a mechanical problem onboard the plane.

The Dash-8 Air Canada Jazz aircraft, which was heading to Baltimore, landed safely just before 8 a.m.

The precise nature of the mechanical issue is not yet known.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority says emergency measures were deployed after the crew of the flight reported the problem. A GTAA spokesman had no information about the flight.

The airline has been unavailable for comment.

According to its website, Jazz flies to small communities in Canada and the U.S. under the brand name Air Canada Express. It also offers service to larger destinations as a complement to Air Canada’s schedule.
