York Region Police Carry On Humanitarian Work Of Fallen Officer

The humanitarian work of a fallen police officer, killed in a tragic car crash last winter, is being carried on by his family and colleagues.

York Region's Chief Armand LaBarge and 13 of his officers hopped on a bus Monday morning to catch a flight to Jamaica so they can visit an orphanage where Constable Davis Ahlowalia dedicated his time.

The group of law enforcers will be joined by Ahlowalia's mother Anna and brother Anil who were overcome with emotion as they boarded the bus.

"It's been very tough. I just hope we can make my little brother proud. It's been a really bittersweet morning," said Davis' broth Anil.

Earlier this summer, York Region Police held a drive in Ahlowalia's memory, collecting enough items to fill a 12-metre container. The group will deliver the supplies, plus $22,000.

To make a donation to the Davis Ahlowalia Mission call (905) 940-2606.
