The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a shooting in Brampton on Sunday night.
Peel police allegedly shot a man as he drove toward officers on Vodden Street near Kennedy Road around 11 p.m.
A short time later, a 24-year-old man showed up at Credit Valley Hospital with two gunshot wounds. He was arrested in hospital, the SIU confirmed.
"Shortly before midnight, there was an interaction," lead investigator Allan Eaton said on Vodden on Monday morning.
"We understand some shots were discharged by Peel officers," he added.
Police have found the car, but Eaton wouldn't say where it was discovered.
Vodden was closed overnight between Vodden Court and Kennedy as police investigated but has since reopened.
The SIU has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to the case. The arm’s length agency investigates police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
