The Highway 401
westbound express lanes were closed down at Keele Saturday night, after a crash involving a motor home and a tractor trailer.
The accident snarled traffic for kilometres while crews cleaned up debris, despite the fact that fortunately, no one was hurt.
Police say four trucks were travelling close together when one stopped, causing a series of collisions.
Fire trucks were called to the scene as a precaution since some of the trucks were carrying propane, but calls for ambulances were cancelled shortly after the accident, which happened just before
8:30pm
.
"Unfortunately for the drivers here, way back at
Yonge Street
is the next transfer lane," said
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Gerry Lannigan.
"If we can get a transfer lane by the accidents they're not too bad, but unfortunately there's about eight kilometres of stopped traffic behind us."
Police are questioning the drivers involved as well as several witnesses. It's not known if charges will be laid.
