Ramage Jury Delays Deliberations

The fate of ex-Toronto Maple Leafs captain Rob Ramage, accused of impaired driving in the death of another former hockey player, won't be determined until Tuesday after the jury decided to delay deliberations originally scheduled for Thursday.

The 12 individuals received their instructions from the judge in a Newmarket court. Ramage pleaded not guilty to five charges including impaired and dangerous driving in the death of former Chicago Blackhawk Keith Magnuson, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Magnuson suffered head and chest injuries in the December 2003 collision and died instantly.

Ramage's attorney Brian Greenspan argued that his client was sober when his vehicle crashed head-on into an SUV and that the blood and urine samples suggesting he was over the legal limit were tainted.

The prosecutor rejected that claim.

Ramage played in the NHL for 15 seasons, winning Stanley Cups with both the Calgary Flames and the Montreal Canadiens.
