Police Make Arrests In Fatal Stabbing On Day Of Teen Victim's Funeral

On the day Akila Geegana was laid to rest, three men were charged in connection with his murder.

The 16-year-old was killed last Friday near a bus shelter at Dixie Road and Howden Boulevard when as many as five men swarmed and stabbed the teen in an attack that appears to have been random.

Three men were arrested Saturday in connection with the killing, two charged with First Degree Murder and a third with obstructing police.  Jamal Johnson, 19, and  another adult male currently in custody on an unrelated matter will be brought to court early next week to face the murder charges. Justin Jack, 22, is charged with the obstruction.

A fourth suspect, 18-year-old Omari White, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. He's described as male, black, 5'9", 150 pounds and was last seen wearing his hair in corn rows.

Meanwhile, earlier Saturday at Geegana's funeral, friends and family described the slain Brampton teen as a model student who was never in trouble with police. He was heading to his part-time job that Friday afternoon when he was allegedly run down and murdered.

"I can't believe them just doing this for no reason," said grief-stricken friend Senthuran Muralee. "Every killing is senseless, but this is cowardly."
