It was the biggest Eid celebration in all of Canada.
More than 10,000 Muslims packed the Rogers Centre on Saturday and prayed together to mark the end of Ramadan, a month-long fast from sunrise to sundown.
Those who attended also brought food for the homeless. One of the most important holidays in Islam, Eid emphasizes charity.
"I think sometimes not every Torontonian knows how much the mosques and the Muslim community gives back. It is extraordinary," said Toronto Mayor David Miller.
Conservative leader John Tory also attend to show his respect for the Muslim faith.
"I very much admire the spirit of family which lies behind this special celebration but also the dedication to equality with a special concern for those less well off making sure they too are a part of this celebration."
Muslims worldwide will continue Eid celebrations for the rest of the weekend. Celebrations were also going on around the world, including in New York where the Empire State Building was lit up in green for the festivities.
