Durham Regional police are investigating the region's first murder of 2012 after a man was found dead in his Oshawa home on Saturday night.
Homicide detectives were called to the home on Celina Street, near Simcoe Street and Highway 401, where a friend had found the unconscious man. The victim was identified Monday as David Walker, 61, of Oshawa.
An autopsy was performed Sunday, and the results indicated "an obvious sign of sharp force trauma," contributed to Walker's death.
Initially, police said the death was "suspicious." Later, officers confirmed it was a homicide investigation.
Detectives remain on the scene.
