GTA faces a dose of winter weather

A slow-moving system touched down in the GTA in time for rush hour Monday, and brought with it a few centimetres of snow.

The snowfall may not be a lot, compared to other years, but in a winter that has had little to no snow, it’s significant.

“We can expect totals in the three to six centimetre range,” said CityNews meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai.

“But all this accumulation will be gone by tomorrow…It’s a sad state of affairs.”

Ramsahai added that if Pearson Airport records more than 3.2 centimetres of snow, it will be the biggest one-day snowfall this season, and most since Dec. 27, 2011.

But it seems some Torontonians aren't impressed with Mother Nature's plans.

“I really liked it without snow,” said Donna.

Things will get significantly milder on Tuesday with a forecast high of 7 C and foggy conditions.

“It’s pretty unpredictable right now. It’s hot and cold, raining and snowing,” said Ally Manner.

The unusually mild temperatures will continue Wednesday, when the forecast high will be 6 C.

And there will be a high of 2 C on Thursday for Groundhog Day.
