A woman’s body found rolled up in a rug in a west-end laneway is being treated as a murder, a detective told CityNews on Wednesday.

"The victim has sustained some trauma," confirmed Det.-Sgt. Peter Trimble. "It's being investigated as a homicide."

The body was discovered just before noon on Clendenan Avenue in the Dundas and Runnymede area of the Junction.

"We were called by a passerby," Const.Victor Kwong told CityNews.

"They had advised that when they went for a walk in the rear laneway behind Clendenan they noticed a rug that was rolled up and a body was found inside this rolled up rug."

Clendenan and the laneway have been cordoned off for the ongoing investigation.

The victim has not been identified and police didn't give an approximate age.
