Toronto police are warning sex trade workers in the city's west end to be on alert after two incidents involving the same suspect posing as a police officer.

The first took place on Nov. 18 after police responded to a call for a sexual assault near Dundas Street West and Keele Street.

Police say a sex trade worker was picked up by a man in a car who claimed to be an undercover officer. He told the women if she didn't perform a sexual act she would be taken to jail. She complied.

He then released her and drove off.

Police say a similar incident involving the same suspect occurred on Jan. 27, in the Weston Road and McCormack Street area.

He picked up a sex trade worker and demanded a sex act, saying he was an officer. She managed to escape and call police.

The suspect is described as white, five foot nine, medium build, brown eyes with short, dark hair. He was driving a newer-model, black, four-door car.

Police believe there may be more victims.
