A Toronto man arrested in an Ontario-wide child-porn bust this week used Facebook and other social networking sites to lure young girls, police say.
Shiraz Nariman, arrested Tuesday, was one of dozens of suspects charged in a co-ordinated investigation involving 24 police forces across the province.
Police said Nariman, 42, lured girls on Facebook, MSN Messenger and Nexopia using photos of a young man who may live in the Toronto area.
Nariman then allegedly convinced the victims to perform sexual acts and record them online.
"Mr. Nariman received these child-abuse images from underage girls he met and chatted with," Det. Joel Manherz alleged Friday.
"There's also some indication Mr. Nariman may have met up with some of these young girls."
He used the email addresses sirazb@hotmail.com, shiraz900@hotmail.com, and the user names “sirazb,” “alex_isme” and “a1.sirop.”
He was charged with luring a child under 16 years, invitation to sexual touching and accessing, making and possessing child pornography.
