Three people were hurt in two separate crashes on the Gardiner Expressway early Thursday.

The first crash happened around 3 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the Gardiner, just east of Islington, when a van lost control and hit a car. It then veered off the road and crashed through a fence.

Two people in the van were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The car also went off the road, but no one was hurt.

There’s no word on charges.

About half an hour later, a man was hurt in an accident on the Gardiner westbound ramp to Highway 427. The man's car broke down and when he got out he was hit by another vehicle. He was pinned under his own car and later rushed to hospital, but suffered only minor injuries.
