A man in Hamilton has died in a police shooting, and Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is now investigating.
Hamilton police were conducting an investigation at 1 p.m. Monday in the area of Quigley Road and Albright Avenue, and that there was “an interaction” between officers and the man.
“During the interaction the man was shot,” the SIU said in a release.
The victim was transported to Hamilton General hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The SIU, which investigates cases where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault involving police, has assigned seven investigators and three forensic investigators to probe the circumstances of this incident.
