Waterloo police have identified a woman and her four-year-old daughter who were found dead Monday night in a townhouse in Kitchener, Ont.

The bodies of 38-year-old Joanna Nowakowska and her daughter Bianca were discovered around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the home on Mooregate Crescent, near Victoria Street and Westmount Road.

On Tuesday, police said they’re not looking for suspects in this case and don’t believe there are any public safety issues. They also said they weren't treating the case as a murder-suicide.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the “sudden” and “suspicious” deaths and autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday in Hamilton.

"Cause of death is part of our investigation and we are still in the process of determining that," said Olaf Heinzel, Waterloo Police.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide branch at (519) 650-8500 ext. 8666 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
