They were on their way to a NASCAR event in Deleware, but four passengers in an RV ended up in the midst of their own adrenaline-fueled road saga, when their vehicle mysteriously went up in flames at Battleford and Winston Churchill Rds. in Mississauga.
"It was coming out the roof, it took out the whole front end," said one witness.
"We walked over and everything was engulfed," another added.
At around 8pm the driver smelled smoke and pulled over. A few moments later, the front end was in flames.
All four people inside escaped unharmed.
"By the time we grabbed our stuff and got out, the front was burning already," said passenger Pat Collins.
Clean-up crews spent about three hours clearing the debris and the stretch of road finally reopened around 11pm.
The cause of the fire remains a mystery.
