$14.5 Million Lottery Jackpot Winner Vows To Give Co-Workers $5,000 Each

He manages a butcher shop across the city and he's used to just being able to make ends 'meat.' But what's in his future is now a lot brighter than what he had in his past, after he won $14.5 million in Lotto 6/49.

Meet Jose Lima: Toronto's newest millionnaire.

What was his million dollar winning strategy? He chose the same numbers his father used to play.

Jose said he's only played the lottery a few times this year, but something told him to try his luck Wednesday. So he went and purchased 12 tickets - and one of them was the winner.

"Something told me to play yesterday," he said. "Believe it or not it's true."

The father of two is feeling pretty generous with his new found wealth. He said he's going to share the jackpot with his co-workers, giving each of them $5,000.

He'll also be sending money overseas to help his brother in need.

"I have a brother in Brazil. He's not in good condition. I want to help him. Maybe buy a house," Jose said while tearing up.

Family and friends couldn't be happier for Jose.

"I walked in [to work] first thing this morning and everyone had a big smile on their face," said Dave Lima, Jose's nephew.

"He was crying, nobody understood what he was saying on the phone. The place just went ecstatic. Everyone was just jumping around. Everyone was just happy for him. It couldn't have happened to a better man," explained relative Darcy Silva.

What have others who've had their numbers come up seen fit to do? According to Ontario Lottery and Gaming, most seem to fall into specific categories. The question for those still dreaming of a big score may be: which one reflects you?
