In one of the craziest winters in recent memory, this seems only appropriate - it's going to finally get warmer but not until after the sun goes down.
In a season that's seen record highs and brutally cold below freezing lows and wind chills, the city is expected to finally escape the icy grasp of Old Man Winter, if only for a week.
After six Extreme Cold Weather alerts - including one called again this weekend - temperatures are set to recover, and what began as another frigid work week will slowly melt into a February thaw.
How warm will it get? You won't want to break out the shorts and T-shirts just yet, but for the first time in almost a month, we'll be above the norm of -1C we should have at this time of year.
Highs of plus 1 or 2 should be here until at least Friday, but like most good deeds, this one may not go unpunished. The extra warmth means there's a chance of freezing rain on Tuesday morning that could complicate your morning commute.
Rain is also possible throughout the week, mixed in with some flurries, as the readings hold near or just above the freezing mark.
One thing you won't have to contend with is the wind chill. As the mercury rises, the conditions that led to risks of frostbite will disappear.
How long they'll be gone is another question. Most forecasters will tell you that long range predictions can change. But if their current prognostications hold, the streets may be crowded with winter hibernators next Sunday.
That's when they're saying we could reach a high of plus 8C.
The moderating trend is bringing smiles to some long frozen faces.
"About time," suggests Veer Palmer. "We've had it not too bad so far. You know, lots of snow but basically, who knows what the weather's going to be doing for us?"
And Sue Biscope figures we have no reason for any real beefs. "This isn't as cold as Ottawa," she laughs," so you have nothing to complain about."
Still, don't get used to it. The long range forecast says we could dip below zero again for the start of March.
But maybe those shorts and T-shirts aren't out of the question, anyway. Spring is now just over one month away. This year it hits on March 20th. And remember, all the groundhogs predicted it would come early this year. And they never lie. Do they?
