Crews have spent the weekend hauling away 25,000 tonnes of trash from temporary dump sites after the city's six-week-long garbage strike.
But concern over pesticide spraying and the juices left behind by the rotting piles have some residents speaking out.
"Just because they're moving this garbage, does it mean residents are satisfied? No. It's got to be totally clean. You've got all that sludge back there," pointed out Virginia Novak, who lives near the site at Campbell Park.
"We want the Ministry of the Environment to take soil samplings, do the excavation, because we see where the leachate was pouring out."
But some Torontonians are just happy the bitter strike is over and the city is getting back to normal.
"It's about time," said a resident named Nick. "I'm glad they're back to work."
All of the city's temporary dump sites are expected to be cleared by around 7pm. On Tuesday, garbage pick-up will resume and public pools and daycares will reopen.
