The father of a boy who was struck by lightning on Wednesday says his son is showing signs of improvement.

"I think he's coming along a lot better than Wednesday," revealed Oral Caines. "He actually had his eyes open today...We put on his favourite movie, Transformers 2. He opened his eyes real wide for that."

Still, six-year-old Kyus is in critical condition and the family is awaiting test results.

The boy (pictured) and his mother, Dulce Caines, 26, were at Centennial Park with another child when the storm struck.
