A mother struck by lightning along with two young boys talked publicly about the terrifying experience for the first time Tuesday.
Twenty-six-year-old Dulcineia Caines has been at her son's bedside at Sick Kids Hospital since she was herself released from a Brampton hospital Friday.
A three-year-old boy also injured in the strike went home on the weekend - but five-year-old Kyus took the brunt of the rogue lightning bolt last Wednesday, though it hurt his mother enough that she has minimal recollections of the incident.
“I remember looking up and seeing a dark cloud but after that I don’t remember getting up to leave ... nothing,” she said. “The last thing I remember was sitting there with my friend. That’s it.”
Five-year-old Kyus is still in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the family is appealing for help in finding a camera that was stolen July 3rd off a front porch in the Mavis and Eglinton area.
The camera is a JVC Everio Camcorder and has the last footage taken of Kyus at his graduation from senior kindergarten.
His parents are hoping somebody will help them get it back.
A donation fund has also been set up to assist the Caines family. For those interested in contributing, the info is:
