A daycare has been evacuated following a hazardous materials scare.

Unknown chemicals were found in an industrial plaza near Midland and Steeles avenues around 9:30am on Tuesday.

A landlord was cleaning out an unoccupied unit when he made the discovery. He immediately called 911.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and the nursery was evacuated as a precaution.

One parent who came to pick up his child noticed something was wrong.

"I smelled something not normal," Jonathan described.

No one was hurt and no charges have been laid.
