It's been more than two weeks since
Brandon Crisp left his Barrie home following a fight with his parents over his Xbox.
Since that time police, family members, and volunteers have searched the surrounding area tirelessly, hoping for some sign of the 15-year-old. But aside from his abandoned bike, and the words of a witness who saw him a few kilometres from home on October 13, the day he went missing, there's been no trace.
And with that, on Tuesday night authorities decided to suspend their ground search for Crisp, pending any further tips about his whereabouts.
Barrie police Sgt. Dave Goodbrand said investigators were still looking into information from dozens of different sources, and added he hoped one of the tips would provide new information in the case.
"It's not as though we're not continuing forward with the investigation, we're working around the clock," Sgt. Goodbrand added. "We are working with the cyber crime unit that's worked with other cases similar to this so we have their expertise and we can tap into their resources."
Unfortunately, snowfall in the area may make further searching even more difficult, as any evidence of the teen could be concealed.
Police began searching the Shanty Bay area 10 days ago, thinking he may have ended up there, but to no avail. Brandon's parents, Steve and Angelika Crisp, say they argued with the teen over the amount of time he spent playing the Xbox game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It wasn't long after that he left the house upset.
Among the leads investigators were looking into, the possibility Brandon may have tried to meet up with someone he met while playing the game online. But his distraught parents believe he's being held somewhere against his will.
"We know our son, he's got a good heart," said Brandon's father, Steve Crisp. "If he could've got the message to us he would have got the message to us ... this is what really scares us the most."
"We know he's still out there," said tearful mother Angelika Crisp. "That's the only thing we can consider right now."
On Wednesday at 6pm family and friends held an evening vigil for the teen in Shanty Bay, at the last spot Brandon was seen.
A
website has been set up here for tips and information in the case. A $50,000 reward is also being offered for any information that leads to the teen.
The case has also hit the America's Most Wanted website's missing children section.
