She was just 17 years old when she disappeared.
Mariam Makhniashvili was last seen outside of Forest Hill Collegiate on Sept. 14.
Tuesday marked her 18th birthday. But while her family could do little but wish Mariam was home for a party, Toronto Police seized computers they believe might lead to information on her whereabouts.
Investigators believe she used the computers at the Forest Hill Public Library and the Barbara Frum Public Library over the summer.
Now, at least 20 of the devices have been taken from those locations.
Officers hope that a search of Mariam’s activity online may provide a clue as to her whereabouts. Her mother prays for the same.
“I hope it’s a breakthrough,” Lela Tabidze said on the 44th day since her daughter vanished.
Investigators wouldn’t confirm whether Mariam was at one of the libraries on the day she disappeared but did say new information led to the move.
“I can’t elaborate on exactly the grounds are, but recent information has come forward and as a result we’ve acted on that information,” Toronto Police Const. Tony Vella explained.
