Police are urging parents to check their children’s Halloween candy after a razor blade and needle were found in treat bags in the GTA.

On Saturday evening, parents of a youth who had been trick-or-treating near Leslie Street and Bannatyne Drive, south of the 401, found someone had dropped a razor blade into their child’s bag.

And in Whitby, parents found a two-inch needle inserted into a Tootsie Roll their child had received while out near Brock Street North and Rossland Road West.

The wrapper showed obvious signs of tampering and the needle was sticking out of the candy.

No one was injured in the incidents.

Anyone with information about what happened in Toronto should call police at 416-808-3300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

To help in the Whitby case, call 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1833 or Durham Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
