Police Identify Victim, Hunt For Suspect After Fatal Shooting Near Pape And Danforth

A 27-year-old man is dead after he was shot several times on a residential street in the city’s east end.

At about 8pm Monday night, police found the victim collapsed on Gough Avenue, near Pape and Danforth.

The victim, since identified as Theodoros Tiku, was pronounced dead at the scene. He is Toronto's 46th homicide victim of 2009 and police say he was well-known to them as an alleged member of a notorious Regent Park gang.

They also suggest the murder was "execution style."

Meanwhile, shaken witnesses in nearby restaurants and a church report hearing as many as eight shots.

"I heard five, six going off at a time. I thought someone was maybe hitting a garbage can," described employee Jim Mantziouras.

"It just came as a big shock once police arrived you put two and two together."

Police taped off the street and brought in the emergency task force and canine unit to search the area.

They are looking for at least one suspect, last seen walking south toward Danforth Avenue.
