Little Speaks In Own Defence As Markham Double Murder Trial Continues

The 38-year-old suspect in a Markham double murder trial took the stand in his own defence in a Newmarket court Wednesday.

Chris Little was the first to phone police to his Markham home on February 12, 2007, claiming to have found two bodies. When investigators arrived they discovered his estranged wife, Julie Crocker, with her throat slit and Paula Menendez, the ex-wife of Crocker’s new lover, Rick Ralph, hanging in the garage.

Little was quickly apprehended, but on Wednesday maintained his innocence.

“All in all we had a good relationship,” he said of his interactions with Crocker. “We had a good time together.”

The Crown is attempting to paint Little as a jealous type who went to great lengths to keep tabs on Crocker and who ultimately killed both women, in turn trying to make it look like a murder suicide.

The trial continues.
