Police are investigating the city’s 48th murder of the year - the third homicide in as many days - after the body of a 67-year-old man was found at a downtown address Wednesday.

Authorities were called to 114 Bedford Rd. just after 3pm where they found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s been identified as Gerald Robert Brown, a retired dentist.

“He seemed to keep to himself, was out with his dogs quite a bit,” recalled a neighbour named Jesse on Thursday. “Very, Very quiet.”

Initially an ambulance was called to Brown's Annex home for a sudden death, but EMS workers immediately suspected something was amiss.

Brown reportedly lived in a basement apartment with a younger man. The space had been ransacked, but police found no signs of forced entry.

A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Thursday.

Investigators are asking anyone who spoke with Brown between Sat., Oct. 31 and Wed., Nov. 4 to contact them at (416) 808-7400 or call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
