Un-adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine will now be available for pregnant women in limited quantities at all Toronto Public Health clinics and at some doctor's offices.  The announcement Thursday coincided with news that Toronto Public Health will be extending hours at their vaccination clinics.

Effective Thursday Nov. 05th, clinics will stay open later in evenings and Sundays.

The following locations will now open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
  • Metro Hall
  • East York Civic Centre
  • North York Civic Centre
  • Etobicoke Civic Centre
  • Timothy Eaton Business and Technical Institute
All 10 weekday clinics are now open from 1 to 9 p.m., and the 10 Saturday clinics will continue to operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can find the full schedule at http://www.toronto.ca/health.

"We want to make it easier for people in the priority groups to get vaccinated," said Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Director of Communicable Disease Control with Toronto Public Health. "Extending our hours and locations will also help us vaccinate everyone when more vaccine becomes available."

For now, clinics will only serve people who fall into the following categories:
  • People with chronic medical conditions under the age of 65
  • Children from six months to less than five years old
  • Household contacts and care providers of persons at high risk who cannot be immunized or may not respond to vaccines
  • Health care workers
  • Pregnant women
