All across Ontario, would-be motorists are left idling as a strike by DriveTest employees nears the three-month mark.

Only six centres in the province are open, staffed by managers offering very limited services.

But off-the-job workers are protesting that decision and are holding up transport trucks in Windsor to voice their displeasure.

Vehicles leaving the Ontario Truck Driving School are being stopped for 10 minutes at a time.

Employees have been on strike since August 21 and the decision affects 93 full-time and part-time DriveTest sites. Those sites grant or renew licences to novice drivers and those over 80.

The six centres that are open are

• Toronto Port Union
• Ottawa Canotek Road
• Kitchener
• North Bay
• Thunder Bay
  

DriveTest will only be serving customers who need their licences for employment or if they have registered for driver training – and you’ll be asked for proof.
