The family of a missing teen turned up at Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday to hand out flyers and appeal to passersby for help.

"It is encouraging to see people walking along Dundas and looking for Mariam," said her mother, Lela Tabidze.

"We know somebody out there knows something. We won't stop until we find her.”

The 18-year-old disappeared on September 14th after parting with her brother outside their school, Forest Hill Collegiate. The only tangible evidence so far is her backpack, which was located in a parking lot near Yonge and Eglinton last month.

Tabidze and Mariam's brother, George, were joined by volunteers from a group formed on Facebook.

“[We’re] supporting the family. [They’re] new to the country. That’s why we’re here,” revealed Melissa Fawcett.

Police have wrapped up one-on-one interviews with almost 1,000 students at Forest Hill but have not uncovered any new leads.

They are also continuing their door-to-door canvass of about 6,000 residents in Mariam's neighbourhood.

A search of the Ingram Transfer Station is now winding down.

Detectives are exploring several theories about the disappearance, ranging from abduction to her running away.
