Friends Mourn Teen Victim Of Bus Accident

A 16-year-old struck and killed by a bus last week was laid to rest at an emotional funeral in Vaughan on Saturday.

Last week, Catherine Tran was hit by a transit bus and pinned under the vehicle on Pine Valley Drive between Langstaff and Highway 7. Bystanders rushed to her side and comforted her as she passed away.

Now, her family is creating a charity in her honour.

“We try to be positive. We try to turn all of our pain and our loss into something very positive,” said Catherine’s aunt, Anhlan Nguyen.

“As family members, we will raise funds and use it to help children all over the world, especially from Vietnam,” explained another aunt, Trang Tran.

Catherine was a popular A-student, as well as an accomplished pianist and athlete.

The bus driver was not charged in the incident.
