A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday morning near Danforth Road and Warden.

The fatal collision happened just after 6:30am. The 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Police believe she was crossing Warden Avenue at Cataraqui Crescent, just north of Danforth Road. She was reportedly wearing headphones at the time.

The woman, who has not been identified, allegedly stopped momentarily in the southbound lane.

She was then hit by a Chevrolet van that was heading south on Warden.

The force of the impact threw the victim 30 metres.

There are reports the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.

Authorities shut down Warden in both directions from St. Clair Avenue to McDonald and the TTC was rerouted for much of the morning.
