It didn’t take police long to track down one suspect wanted in connection to a fatal hit and run Tuesday morning, but investigators are still trying to find a second driver also believed to be involved.

The crash happened just before 6am at Kipling and Finch Avenue West. When paramedics arrived on scene they found a 73-year-old man with no vital signs.

Authorities claim they found the suspect driver and vehicle across town at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, near Morningside and Ellesmere Road, about two hours after the crash. The 62-year-old motorist called police after she allegedly left the scene.

Georgina Cappelletti, 62, of Toronto, has been charged with:

  • Fail to stop after accident involving bodily harm.

Investigators believe the victim was already lying on the road when the suspect allegedly struck him and now they're trying to track down the vehicle that hit him first.

The driver of that first vehicle is described as a man in his 50s or 60s, with a beard. He was reportedly behind the wheel of a light-coloured Toyota-type vehicle.

If you have any information that could help detectives, call Traffic Services at (416) 808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
