The Better Way is about to become the pricier way, with a TTC fare hike about to kick in.

Starting Sunday, the cost of an adult cash fare will raise 25 cents to $3, and the price of tokens will also go up a quarter to $2.50.

Under the new fares, the adult monthly Metropass rises from $109 to $121.

The TTC faces a $100 million shortfall in its 2010 operating budget and says a fare hike is the only solution. The city and province won’t increase funding and the commission won’t consider service cuts.

Riders will also be able to buy tokens again on Sunday. In November, the TTC started selling temporary tickets in their place to end the token hoarding that began with news of the hike.
