TTC Chair Adam Giambrone vowed Wednesday to improve customer service following a 'perfect storm' of events that led to several uncomfortable months of bad press.
They included a fare increase, a token shortage, a huge subway outage, and a now-infamous photo of a fare collector napping on the job.
Giambrone admitted the service hasn't lived up to expectations and apologized at a press conference.
He also outlined a series of changes, ranging from a rider “bill of rights” and improved technology to communicate with passengers. Customer service training for staff will also be reviewed and strengthened.
"What has happened over the past couple of months is a wake up call," Giambrone admitted.
The TTC received more than 31,000 complaints last year and almost half of them were about service delays and discourteous TTC employees.
