A Mississauga office building fire that trapped several workers and caused up to $5 million in damage Wednesday is now being treated as arson.
The blaze at 1270 Central Parkway West was contained to the third floor but heavy smoke spread throughout the 6-storey structure, trapping several workers before fire crews could safely evacuate them.
Investigators now believe the fire was intentionally set and they are seeking a male suspect.
He's described as:
- white 5’7” tall
- approximately 200 lbs, with a heavy build.
- last seen wearing orange coveralls, a black t-shirt, a black hat and dark shoes.
No one was seriously hurt in the fire, which was set in the third floor hallway, not far from the office of Conservative MP Bob Dechert. So far there's no evidence to suggest a connection, but an investigation is ongoing.
