Police have identified a suspect in a fire that caused $5 million in damage to a Mississauga office building two days ago.
The blaze started around 4:30pm Wednesday on the third floor of the Erindale Corporate Centre, a six-storey structure beside the Erindale GO Station near Burnhamthorpe and Mavis roads.
The fire was contained to the floor, but heavy smoke spread to the levels above, which crews evacuated upon arrival.
On Friday, police issued an arrest warrant for 42-year-old Mikhail Khavkine of Mississauga and are urging him to turn himself in. He was not at his South Millway residence when officers arrived.
He is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 200 lbs, with a heavy build. He may be driving a white, four-door 1991 Mercury Sable.
