No serious injuries were reported after a car slammed into a bus shelter at Victoria Park and Ellesemere early Tuesday.

The accident happened around 5am. The driver was taken to hospital with what were described as minor injuries and his passenger wasn’t hurt.

A person waiting at the bus stop managed to get out of the way before the vehicle careened into the shelter.

Taxi Takedown

Police arrested a man from the back seat of a cab early Tuesday on Jarvis Street just north of Gerrard.

There’s no word on what prompted the arrest. The cabbie followed the 51 Division cop cruiser just after the takedown around 5am.

Prisoner Escape

Police are on the look-out after an inmate escaped from the Pittsburgh Institution, a minimum security facility northeast of Kingston.

Correctional Services Canada Staff discovered an inmate, Mark Lloyd Aubertin, in a restricted area at 10pm Monday night. They attempted to apprehend him, but were unsuccessful and a later count and search of the grounds confirmed he couldn’t be located.

Aubertin is serving four years and two months for drug, weapons on property-related charges. The Pittsburgh Institution opened in 1963 and can accommodate up to 226 inmates.
